…after the end of the final, and Dick Jasper’s triumph, the president of the European Billiard Federation, mr. Wolfgang Rittman, gave the offer award to the GBF president, mr George Sakkas, an honour which hasn’t been given to an administration member for many years, as he said characteristically…
“There is a man who brought Greek Billiards, in equal level as the one of the well known as traditionally strong European counties.
Sacrificing his own sport abilities and dreams, from the moment he entered and started leading his Federation, it took him only five years in order to make the Greek Federation of Billiards, one of the most active in the world.
The European and World Federations ask him not to resign and are very sorry to hear that his decision is irreversible.
We hope a lot of players in the world to follow his example, and help in the administration.
For his immense actions and activities, on behalf of the CEB, I give this award for his offer to the international billiards, to George Sakkas.”
